MARKETING and COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Reports to: Director of Fundraising and Development


SUMMARY
Manage, plan and implement public relations and marketing programs designed to advance the objectives of Art For People. Responsible for developing, coordinating, directing, and administering policies relating to all phases of public relations. Utilizing a combination of marketing and public relations skills, promote the mission and vision of Art For People to the general public and identified key constituencies, as well as all activities of the organization, its community outreach projects, school offerings and activities, and performances. Implement public awareness strategies using all forms of media and public awareness avenues. Assist fundraising and marketing management with communications, media and advertising materials to effectively represent the organization's services to potential donors, sponsors, students, performers and the community.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

Manage, plan and implement public relations and marketing programs designed to advance the objectives of Art For People.

2.

Develop, coordinate, direct, and administer all phases of public relations, and related policies and procedures.

3.

Utilizing a combination of marketing and public relations skills, promote the mission and vision of Art For People to the general public and identified key constituencies, as well as all activities of the organization, its community outreach projects, school offerings and activities, and performances.

4.

Serve as the key liaison between the organization and all media outlets.

5.

Develops and maintain current knowledge of public relations principles and practices.

6.

Develop and coordinate production of all publicity materials for the organization.

7.

Establishes, coordinates, and maintains a quarterly newsletter that is informative, promotes the activities of Art For People and is community-minded

8.

Develops and maintains narrative content of website.

9.

Works with graphic designer to implement design and graphic standards of the organization.

10.

Organizes and establishes continuing internal communications through the use of bulletin boards, employee publications, and meetings.

11.

Develops and presents budget for marketing and communications activities.

12.

Makes available to the senior management newspaper, radio, website and television accounts of noteworthy items of general concern that impact government regulations.

13.

Conducts media training for senior management as necessary.

14.

Establish and maintain contact with industry, local and national media. Develops rapport with the media, and maintains media databases.
15. Contacts the media to promote all Art For People activities, innovative programs, positive developments, community outreach activities, performances, etc.
16. Develops displays and general information visual aids to promote a better understanding of Art For People objectives.
17. Where appropriate, arranges for the development of videotape scripts and selects a film producer to handle the assignment. Overviews editing and voice-overs to assure quality production in line with the parameters of the assignment
18. Writes draft speeches for senior management and reviews proposed speech with the executive. Arranges for necessary speaking aids. Attends the presentation and offers feedback to the speaker.
19. May develop and coordinate multimedia packages-letters, brochures, video, point-of-purchase displays-for particular assignments.
20. Develops direct mail programs, as dictated by the assignment, and monitors roll-out of the campaign and checks for success level at conclusion.
21. Develops draft advertising text and layouts as part of campaign materials and presents to advertising manager for review and approval.
22. Represents Art For People at conferences relative to marketing, public relations and professional service delivery activities.
23. In conjunction with senior management, develops input into the long-range plan of Art For People in relation to public relations requirements.
24. Communicate with senior management on all activities.
25. Other duties as assigned.

1.

Coordinates all public relations and marketing efforts with fundraising and development activities, as well as community outreach projects.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1.

Commitment to the goals and philosophy of Art For People.

2.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. At least five years of solid writing and editing experience.

3.

Superior presentation and analytical skills, plus demonstrated skills to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously. Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed on assignments.

4.

Thorough knowledge of principles of effective communications and mass media, publicity, advertising, policies, education, community relations, non-profit organization structure, and performing arts.

5.

Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups. Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and recommend courses of action to be taken.
6. A bachelor's degree in journalism, advertising, or communications. Graduate work in journalism preferred, or equivalent experience (i.e., five (5) to six (6) years' related experience).



WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
